 Phenology locations

A mid-summer storm brought reprieve from the heat, but did not deliver much moisture to the east side of the valley.

Grasshopper roadkill offers protein for other insects.

Two cow-calf pairs make their way up a ridge early in the morning.

Goldenrod shines bright during late summer when many other species are already senesced (Solidago missouriensis, Native).

Grasshoppers continue to defoliate herbage from the floodplain to the top of Baldy (Horsemint, Agastache urticifolia).

Two species of cherry, bitter cherry and choke cherry, occur on MPG Ranch. Chokecherry is the only Prunus species that presents its flowers and fruit in an elongated raceme (Prunus emarginata and P. virginiana).

 A defoliated apple tree displays its meager offering (Malus domesticus, Restoration)

 Full knapweed seed heads are few and far between. Seed head weevil larvae fill the majority (Centaurea stoebe).
